The Advanced Air Mobility Institute has released the 2025 Winter Global AAM Forum (GAAMF) Summary Report, providing a comprehensive analysis of the current state of the industry.
The report draws from insights shared by stakeholders from over 70 countries, examining technological progress, regulatory challenges, and market trends shaping the future of AAM.
AAM Institute Executive Director and GAAMF Report Editor-in-Chief, Amin Vafadar, said, “AAM is no longer a distant dream but an imminent reality poised to transform global transportation. Its success depends on international collaboration to address regulatory, infrastructure, and public engagement challenges. By aligning standards, fostering innovation, and advocating for policies that ensure safety and sustainability, we can lay the foundation for a more connected and inclusive future.”
A key focus of the forum was the industry’s continued prioritization of public safety, emergency response, and air medical transport—sectors that offer immediate societal benefits. Additionally, agriculture services and cargo delivery have gained traction, reflecting AAM’s growing applications beyond urban passenger transport.
While advancements in eVTOL aircraft, drone logistics, and sustainable propulsion systems demonstrate the sector’s momentum, regulatory hurdles and public perception remain significant obstacles. The report underscores the necessity for harmonized policies, streamlined certification processes, and public awareness initiatives to facilitate safe and scalable AAM integration.
Survey data included in the report suggests that most industry experts anticipate commercial eVTOL operations within the next five years. Meanwhile, electric aviation is already a reality, with eCTOL fixed-wing aircraft achieving type certification and actively flying today. The findings reinforce the importance of collaborative efforts to address regulatory concerns and public acceptance, ensuring a viable path forward for AAM worldwide.
