SkyDrive Inc., a prominent Japanese developer of eVTOL aircraft, is showcasing a full-scale replica of its SKYDRIVE SD-05 at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai.
The exhibit is housed within the Advanced Air Mobility Station, a dedicated pavilion in the event’s Empowering Zone that highlights emerging urban aviation technologies.
This marks the first time the SD-05 model has been presented to the public at full size. With a reservation, visitors can step inside the aircraft mockup, gaining a rare, up-close look at the future of air mobility.
The SD-05 Boarding Experience
At approximately 11.5 meters long, 11.3 meters wide, and 3 meters high including its rotors, the full-scale SD-05 mockup gives attendees a tangible sense of what eVTOL integration into urban infrastructure might look like. The immersive display aims to build public awareness and excitement around advanced air mobility, offering a unique opportunity to experience the aircraft’s design and layout firsthand.
Inside, the SD-05 features a cabin configured for three occupants—one pilot and two passengers. The layout emphasizes comfort and space, especially in the rear seating area where passengers sit side by side. Expansive windows enhance the onboard experience, providing panoramic views and reinforcing the aircraft’s appeal as a clean, quiet alternative to traditional rotorcraft.
A Vision for Sustainable Urban Air Transport
Powered entirely by electricity, the SD-05 is engineered with sustainability and urban practicality in mind. Its lightweight frame and low acoustic signature make it suitable for operations in dense metropolitan areas, including rooftop takeoff and landing zones. SkyDrive’s ongoing development of this platform reflects Japan’s commitment to innovative, eco-conscious transportation solutions.
